topic CSCwf40241 (Privilege level commands not in running-config) in Cisco Bug Discussions

This should be an absolute embarrassment for Cisco. May I introduce people to:

CSCvs54882 Custom privilege commands do not show in running configuration and are lost on reload (Cat3K/9K)
CSCtr81355 Privilege command does not show full output in running configuration (Cat 2960, sev 6 enhancement)
CSCvi87205 'Privilege interface' commands are not displayed in running config on switch (ISVR)
CSCdt04001 Privileged interface commands dont work after reboot (Catalyst 2900XL/3500XL <== yes, not a typo)

These are the bugs I chose to list. There are plenty more duplicates. Whatever the source of this issue is, you'd think it would've been permanently fixed back with the 2900XL/3500XL code. The commands take effect, but are not NVGEN'd into the reconstituted text configuration during a show run. If it's not in running-config, it can't be copied into startup-config, so they get lost. That's the problem. Why isn't this getting solved permanently across code versions and platforms?
