Hi All,

I'm currently using the setup below:

Nortel PBX ------E1/R2------- Cisco 3660 (NM-HDV-1E1-30E)

The Nortel PBX has the following description:

Make: Nortel Meridian SL1 - XT

Version: 1211 Release 16 Issue 91

The Cisco 3660 has the following IOS:

Version 12.1(5)T4

I'm currently experiencing a 3 to 4 sec delay in call setup. Every time an extension on the PBX side dials an IP extension, it takes about 3 sec before we hear a ring tone.

I checked the debug on the Cisco side, and according to the time stamps, there is a difference of 3 sec between the fist digit of the called party and the last digit of the caller ID. Moreover, there is approximately a 100ms delay from the time the Cisco router send an acknowledgment and receiving the next digit from the PBX!!

Is there a way to speed up this process? What are the parameters that can be changed in order to affect this setup time?

Any idea, help will be appreciated.

I pasted a small copy of the debug:

*Apr 14 23:30:51.016: htsp_dsp_message: SEND/RESP_SIG_STATUS: state=0x0 timestam

p=25790 systime=388625128

*Apr 14 23:30:51.016: [2/0:1(2), R2_Q421_IDLE, E_DSP_SIG_0000]

*Apr 14 23:30:51.016: r2_q421_ic_seize(2/0:1(2)) Rx SEIZURE

*Apr 14 23:30:51.016: r2_reg_start_digit_collection(2/0:1(2))

*Apr 14 23:30:51.016: r2_q421_ic_seize(2/0:1(2)) Tx SEIZE ACK (with 2ms delay)[R

2 Q.421 2/0:1(2)] set signal state = 0x8[R2 Q.421 2/0:1(2)] set signal state = 0

xC

*Apr 14 23:30:51.016: r2_reg_process_event: [2/0:1(2), R2_REG_IDLE, E_R2_REG_STA

RT_COLLECTION(72)]

*Apr 14 23:30:51.016: r2_reg_start_collecting(2/0:1(2))

*Apr 14 23:30:51.016: r2_reg_timer_stop(2/0:1(2))

*Apr 14 23:30:51.016: [2/0:1(2), R2_Q421_IC_SEIZE, E_HTSP_SETUP_ACK]

*Apr 14 23:30:51.016: r2_q421_ic_setup(2/0:1(2)) E_HTSP_SETUP_ACK

*Apr 14 23:30:51.016: r2_reg_offhook(2/0:1(2))

*Apr 14 23:30:51.016: r2_reg_process_event: [2/0:1(2), R2_REG_COLLECTING, E_R2_R

EG_OFFHOOK(73)]

*Apr 14 23:30:51.016: r2_reg_ic_offhook(2/0:1(2))

*Apr 14 23:30:51.016: R2 Incoming Voice(2/0): DSX (E1 2/0:1): STATE: R2_IN_IDLE

R2 Got Event R2_START

*Apr 14 23:30:51.300: htsp_digit_ready_up(2/0:1(2)): Rx digit='4'

*Apr 14 23:30:51.300: R2 Incoming Voice(2/0): DSX (E1 2/0:1): STATE: R2_IN_PRE_C

ALLERID R2 Got Event 4

*Apr 14 23:30:51.300: r2_reg_generate_digits(2/0:1(2)): Tx digit '1'

*Apr 14 23:30:51.392: htsp_digit_ready(2/0:1(2)): Rx digit='#'

*Apr 14 23:30:51.392: R2 Incoming Voice(2/0): DSX (E1 2/0:1): STATE: R2_IN_PRE_C

ALLERID R2 Got Event R2_TONE_OFF

*Apr 14 23:30:51.392: r2_reg_generate_digits(2/0:1(2)): Tx digit '#'

*Apr 14 23:30:51.512: htsp_digit_ready_up(2/0:1(2)): Rx digit='9'

*Apr 14 23:30:51.512: R2 Incoming Voice(2/0): DSX (E1 2/0:1): STATE: R2_IN_PRE_C

ALLERID R2 Got Event 9

*Apr 14 23:30:51.512: r2_reg_generate_digits(2/0:1(2)): Tx digit '1'

*Apr 14 23:30:51.592: htsp_digit_ready(2/0:1(2)): Rx digit='#'

*Apr 14 23:30:51.592: R2 Incoming Voice(2/0): DSX (E1 2/0:1): STATE: R2_IN_PRE_C

ALLERID R2 Got Event R2_TONE_OFF

*Apr 14 23:30:51.592: r2_reg_generate_digits(2/0:1(2)): Tx digit '#'

*Apr 14 23:30:51.700: htsp_digit_ready_up(2/0:1(2)): Rx digit='5'

*Apr 14 23:30:51.700: R2 Incoming Voice(2/0): DSX (E1 2/0:1): STATE: R2_IN_PRE_C

ALLERID R2 Got Event 5

.............

Thanks
