topic Difference between EndOfSecurityVulSupportDate and LastDateOfSupport? in DevNet General Discussions

Hi all!

We are currently preparing to connect to the EoX API, and saw that both EndOfSecurityVulSupportDate and LastDateOfSupport have similar looking descriptions and results.

The descriptions according to the API specification are as follows:

EndOfSecurityVulSupportDate: Last date that Cisco Engineering may release a planned maintenance release or scheduled software remedy for a security vulnerability issue.

LastDateOfSupport: Last date to receive service and support for the product. After this date, all support services for the product are unavailable, and the product becomes obsolete.

Can any of you tell us whether there is a difference between those two fields, or that they always yield the same results?

Kind regards,

Asjen

as per my understanding :

EndOfSecurityVulSupportDate - this date onwards there is no further security updates will be available. (like security patches)

LastDateOfSupport : Cisco no longer supports offcially (that means there is no TAC support and hardware support for that device from Cisco)

Hello @asjenvandenberg,

EndOfSecurityVulSupportDate: This field refers to the last date until which Cisco Engineering may release planned maintenance releases or scheduled software remedies specifically for security vulnerability issues. It is related to the availability of security-related support and updates. After this date, Cisco may not provide planned maintenance or scheduled software updates specifically for security vulnerabilities.

LastDateOfSupport: This field indicates the last date until which the product receives service and support in a more general sense. After this date, all support services for the product are unavailable. It includes support for not only security vulnerabilities but also general product issues, bug fixes, and any other support-related services.
