Hey everyone! I've recently gained access to Cisco Modeling Labs (CML) through Cisco DevNet, and it's an impressive tool. However, since it's a shared service, my usage is limited. I'm wondering if it's possible to download vIOS images from CML via the sandbox. That way, I can continue my studies on GNS3 when CML access isn't available.

I also think CML puts some sort of registration on those images too.

Hope this helps.

no, it is not possible. as mentioned above, images outside of CML are illegal to be used in GNS3 or Eve; some images like IOL will not work outside of CML (is what I heard).

You can buy CML personal edition to use CML at home. see https://learningnetworkstore.cisco.com/cisco-modeling-labs-person

using leagal CML images after purchase in GNS3 is "grey" area! probably is still illegal; just do not share them!

Thank you, @bigevilbeard and @Martin L, for your responses! I saw a well-known networking YouTuber mention that it's legal to use images from CML in GNS3, though he was using a locally purchased version of CML, which likely permits this. However, it seems this option might not be available for the cloud version on Cisco DevNet. I was wondering if there’s any way to download it from the cloud.

The only way to legally acquire Cisco images is via Cisco, with a valid support contract, its always been this way.

Hope this helps.

@bigevilbeard Cisco DevNet has launched a hosted version of CML as a shared resource for those unable to purchase CML themselves. This generous initiative from the Cisco DevNet team provides valuable access through [bit.ly/freecml](bit.ly/freecml). However, since it's a shared resource, users must reserve a slot in advance to access CML. Yes but I understand what you are trying to say About the image license, so I will get it through cisco. Thanks again

Cisco also has dCloud for this, but again this is reservation based. Outside of this there is also containerlabs which you can access for free (or so i think) which has a good number of resources for hands on.
