I'm looking for Cisco support on setting up a site-to-site VPN with the DevNet Sandbox lab (We bought a Cisco 881 just for this purpose).

I checked this post which seems helpful: router vpn setup for sandbox collaboration labs

It looks like I will be needing a groupname from Cisco to proceed further.

Any help is appreciated,

Cody

We're working on developing this feature for all Sandboxes and should have it soon!

Could you please let me know which Sandbox you're trying to connect a HW VPN too?

Thanks!
Jacob

Hi Jacob,

Thanks for checking and getting back to me with that information.

I am thinking about an alternative to using a H/W VPN for our specific needs. We want to have hardware Cisco IP Phones in our lab environment register with the CUCM in the Collab lab. It would appear certain IP Phones have the ability to VPN using Anyconnect although I don't know if this environment supports that.

Configure AnyConnect VPN Phone with Certificate Authentication on an ASA - Cisco

Is this an option or are there other options?

Thank you,

Cody

Hey Cody,

I have tried this before and it's worked okay. I've done this specifically with a DX80. Though, It's been awhile since I've tried it. I would give it try and see if it works.

Another alternative is network sharing. If you have a computer with a wireless and hardware network connection it could work. We've done this before in a pinch.

Essentially what you do is connect your wifi adapter to the internet, then use AnyConnect on that machine to establish a VPN. Then you share your network connection on your hardware nic. From there, you can patch your laptop into a standard switch (not connected). Then you can add IP phones to that switch, and they can access the CUCM through the VPN. You normally have to statically configure the phones IP settings for this to work.

It's not supported, but it does work. Is that something that could work for you?

Thanks!
Jacob
