Hi, i am trying to configure multiple IP in router single interface . but the error coming when i configure secondary ip address. after given IP address and subset mask after write secondary error is ^ in sec. pl z provide the sol. or without secondary command use whats is the other option to configure secondary IP in single interface..

Have you tried using sub-interfaces? like router in a stick scenario

Sub interfaces

interface g0/0

no shutdown

interface g0/0.10

encapsulation dot1q 10

ip address 192.168.10.1 255.255.255.0

interface g0/0.20

encapsulation dot1q 20

ip address 192.168.20.1 255.255.255.0

-----

Secondary IP

interface g0/0

ip address 192.168.10.1 255.255.255.0

ip address 192.168.20.1 255.255.255.0 secondary

In sub- interface successfully configure multiple IP . but i am try to configure in interface secondary IP the same error is coming in secondary ^.

It should work without any problem, what is your router model? also can you share a show version, output?

What are the addresses and masks? Just wondering whether you're trying to assign to IPs on the same network.

I am facing last two days problem of i cant configure dhcp in router 2811 int dot11radio0/0/0 in packet tracers. once i successful configure. but after 10 min configuration failed and its showing APIPA . please find below conf i use

router (config ) # ip dhcp pool Wireless

network 172.16.10.0 255.255.255.0

default - router 172.16.10.1

ip name-server 172.16.10.4

exit

router (config)# ip dhcp exclude add 172.16.10.1 172.16.10.10

router (config)# dot11 ssid test

router (config-ssid)# do sh ip int br

router (config-ssid)# int dot11 0/0/0

router (config)# ip add 172.16.10.1 255.255.255.0

I go to wirelee tablet config

wep key-123456789A

ssid - test

and click algorithm and wireless is showing in dhcp 169.X.X.X APIPA. plz help how to configure dhcp in dot11radio

what IP does the router itself has?

and does the log of the router show any "duplicate IP addresss" messages?

Sir,
Router network id is 172.16.10.0 and dot11radio0/0/0 ip is 172.16.10.1 and dhcp config ip is 172.16.10.1 excluded add is 172.16.10.1 to 172.16.10.10.

no, dot11radio0/0/0 refers to the internal access point.

my question is about the ip address of the router itself this will ge Gi0 or gi0/0 ? or something similar.

my guess is you are using the same address for the router interface and for the AP radio interface, that is why you have this problem.

please post the full running-configuration of the router
