Cant seem to upgrade ACE 4710

Hello, I need some assistance in upgrading a 4710. This is a brand new ACE out of the box and I have tried to upgrade a couple of times but get the same error... Here are the details:

Hi Bilal,

it is a file system error, it means that the flash is corrupted or has some bad sector. Please take backup before all this process.

You can try to format the flash disk and upgrade or else raise a TAC case and they can help you with it.

Hello Ajay, Thank you for your response, this ACE isnt active yet, just sitting at my desk. So I can try any suggestions. Is there some proceedure I can follow to format the flash disk...

Will it be in a state where I can recover it and load an image on it?

Reformatting the ACE Appliance Flash Memory

After you reformat the Flash memory, perform the following actions:

• Reinstall the ACE appliance software image by using the copy image: command (see the Release

Note, Cisco ACE 4700 Series Application Control Engine Appliance).

• Reinstall the ACE appliance license by using the license install command (see Chapter 4, Managing

ACE Software Licenses).

• Import the startup and running-configuration files into the associated context by using the copy

command (see the “Copying Configuration Files from a Remote Server” section).

• Import SSL certificate files and key pair files into the associated context using by the crypto import

command (see the SSL Guide, Cisco ACE Application Control Engine)

Bilal,

As Ajay stated this indicates a possible problem with the internal Filesystem then it should be required to format flash and restoring the image.

If the situation persists, eventually you may end up replacing the box.

I has the same problem with read-only. I had to format flash:

switch/Admin# backup all >> then I get a .tgz file and copy it to my PC

switch/Admin# format flash:

switch/Admin#restore all disk0:<backup filename>.tgz

Then I could copy the new software image and all worked well.
