Hi,

I would like to know if active FTP is accelerated in Cisco WAAS. Active FTP uses dynamic ports therefore is not matched by the regular FTP classifier (ports 20 and 21 in source or destination)

Here's an example of an FTP session that is not accelerated.

10.x.x.x:55924 10.x.x.x:26263 MAC_address_of_peer_WAVE PT Intermediate

And what is PT Intermediate?

Actually is there a table of all PT definitions and their detailed meaning; PT app config; PT asymm routing?

Thanks,

Patrick

Hi Patrick,

We do not currently detect the ports used for active mode FTP. To classify this traffic will require you to create policies based on IP address.

The ConnType "PT Intermediate" means that the WAAS device is in between two other WAAS devices and is therefore not optimizing the connection. For the different connection types, see the attached document.

Regards,

Zach
