I a network with a dmz for a web server farm with local director for load balancing the servers. Since the cache engine will be doing reverse ( for server aceleration) and transparent cache ( client browsing aceleration) where sould i place the cache engine? Outside the firewall with wwcp to the wan router or in the dmz with l4 switch or local director ? What are the problems in terms of security in either cases ?

You can place the CE on the internet router for both RPC (wccp 99) and transparent forward proxy (web-cache) without needing an LD. Make sure the internet router is heavily protected with good access lists. Use the authentication string for WCCP so the router will not be spoofed. The router config would be something like:

ip wccp web-cache

ip wccp 99

int s0

ip wccp web-cache redirect out

int e0

ip wccp 99 redirect out

The newer code also supports redirect in.
