CE507 recovery, a correct boot file?

Hi, I recently found out a refurbished CE507 and decided to turn it back into production. I connected a console cable to it and saw that it is not able to boot at all. The boot procedure stops at loading the boot file and the CE reloads again.

I changed the boot params to boot from net (ftp or tftp, tried both). I downloaded some "images" from the CCO. With all of them, the same happens - the CE starts reading the file and claims that its invalid:

Attaching network interface lo0... done.

Error loading file: errno = 0xd0003.

Can't load boot file!!

The image that I am passing to the CE507 is: acns53.sysimg

Below is the output from the boot prompt of the CE:

Any suggestions? What is the correct boot file for this?

Do you get to the point where you type in '***' to boot to the rescue image? If not, you should re-image the device using the rescue CD.

I read that document before and I have a CD with the rescue image on it. What I can not understand is - what should I do with it. Do not laugh at me, but I still can't get it. I have two questions:

1. Should I put the rescue CD-ROM in a CD drive, located in the CE507? Because I do not have any CD drive on the Cache Engine.

2. If I should boot the rescue CD-ROM from a regular PC, how then it interacts with the CE?

Via console (serial port)? TFTP/FTP?

Ahh ... the 507. That is very old hardware. There is no CD drive. I would recommend that you try using a 4.x sysimg. You will most likely need to install 4.x, then follow the 4.x to 5.x upgrade procedures on CCO.

I did some more investigation into the errors you are seeing. It looks like the CE is running the cache 2.x bootloader software. This software does not know how to load sysimg files. You will need to follow the upgrade instructions located here:

I double-tripple checked the box - it is CE507.

Could it be, the guy who used to try installing Linux OS on this cache engine, has erased the flash... or ?
