Default keepalive on CSS?

Is there a default keepalive on the CSS? I'd like to know what happens if you do not define a keepalive in the config. It looks like that may have been done by the person who originally configured the CSS I'm tweaking. I'm pretty new to the CSS platform and I can't find any info on this in the CSS documentation on cisco.com.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Gilles! That's exactly what I was looking for. I assumed that ICMP would be the default, but I was having trouble finding any documentation to back that up.
