topic Hi Richard, in IP Telephony and Phones

Hi Richard,

If you are using physical MCS servers (rather than virtual) you can plug a USB dongle into a CUCM server and play audio files stored on an iPod (or similar device). The challenge will be finding the USB dongle as I do not believe Cisco still sell them. The Cisco part code for the adapter was MOH-USB-AUDIO=

More details are below:

http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/voice_ip_comm/cucm/admin/8_0_1/ccmfeat/fsgd-801-cm/fsmoh.html#wp1095813

If you are running virtual servers (or cannot source a USB adapter) then you can stream multicast MoH (not unicast) using an external device to stream the audio from an iPod or similar device.

This device could be a Cisco gateway with an FXO or E&M card or (preferably) a dedicated device from a company like Barix.

Chec out Willam Bell's blog on this topic.

Hope this helps

James

1. Can multiple wav files be added for MOH?

2. If so, can these wav files be looped so that they play in a sequence?

You choose one MOH file, and whoever you put on hold, will always hear that same MOH.

Thanks Jaime. Do you know of a third party application that can play multiple wave files in sequence? Our client would like to record different announcements in different files that are played while callers are on hold. Any info is appreciated.

If you're not running on MCS, you cannot do as James says, your option would be to use live MOH via multicast from an ISR, or buy a multicast injector for your network to which you would attach the mp3 player.
