I did not use cisco image upacker ( is this wrong?)&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P class="MsoListParagraphCxSpMiddle" style="text-indent: -18pt;"&gt;&lt;SPAN lang="EN-US" style="font-size: 16pt; line-height: 115%;"&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;2)&lt;SPAN style="font: 7pt &amp;amp;quot;Times New Roman&amp;amp;quot;;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; &lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;SPAN lang="EN-US" style="font-size: 16pt; line-height: 115%;"&gt;I chose the project directory and the image directory for gns3. I Enabled the options “ghost ios feature’’,&lt;SPAN&gt;&amp;nbsp; &lt;/SPAN&gt;’’mmap support’’ and I checked that dynamips was working perfectly.&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P class="MsoListParagraphCxSpMiddle" style="text-indent: -18pt;"&gt;&lt;SPAN lang="EN-US" style="font-size: 16pt; line-height: 115%;"&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;4)&lt;SPAN style="font: 7pt &amp;amp;quot;Times New Roman&amp;amp;quot;;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; &lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;SPAN lang="EN-US" style="font-size: 16pt; line-height: 115%;"&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt; &lt;/SPAN&gt;Then from gns3 I chose the decompressed image named “C1700-AD ‘’ &lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P class="MsoListParagraphCxSpMiddle"&gt;&lt;STRONG style="text-decoration: underline; "&gt;&lt;SPAN lang="EN-US" style="font-size: 16pt; line-height: 115%;"&gt;FIRST TROUBLE&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/STRONG&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P class="MsoListParagraphCxSpMiddle"&gt;&lt;STRONG style="text-decoration: underline; "&gt;&lt;SPAN lang="EN-US" style="font-size: 16pt; line-height: 115%;"&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt; &lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/STRONG&gt;&lt;STRONG&gt;&lt;SPAN lang="EN-US" style="font-size: 16pt; line-height: 115%;"&gt;I saw a message stating that&lt;SPAN&gt;&amp;nbsp; &lt;/SPAN&gt;“The path you have selected should contain only ascii (English) characters. &lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/STRONG&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P class="MsoListParagraphCxSpMiddle"&gt;&lt;STRONG&gt;&lt;SPAN lang="EN-US" style="font-size: 16pt; line-height: 115%;"&gt;Dynamips does not support Unicode on Windows”&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/STRONG&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P class="MsoListParagraphCxSpMiddle"&gt;&lt;SPAN lang="EN-US" style="font-size: 16pt; line-height: 115%;"&gt; &lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P class="MsoListParagraphCxSpMiddle"&gt;&lt;SPAN lang="EN-US" style="font-size: 16pt; line-height: 115%;"&gt;In spite of this message the image ios was loaded.&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P class="MsoListParagraphCxSpMiddle" style="text-indent: -18pt;"&gt;&lt;SPAN lang="EN-US" style="font-size: 16pt; line-height: 115%;"&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;5)&lt;SPAN style="font: 7pt &amp;amp;quot;Times New Roman&amp;amp;quot;;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; &lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;SPAN lang="EN-US" style="font-size: 16pt; line-height: 115%;"&gt;I left the base config option as “baseconfig.txt” (should I change it?)&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P class="MsoListParagraphCxSpMiddle" style="text-indent: -18pt;"&gt;&lt;SPAN lang="EN-US" style="font-size: 16pt; line-height: 115%;"&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;6)&lt;SPAN style="font: 7pt &amp;amp;quot;Times New Roman&amp;amp;quot;;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; &lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;SPAN lang="EN-US" style="font-size: 16pt; line-height: 115%;"&gt;I chose the platform and the model (I am sure about the platform but I am not sure about the exact model…On step 7 I checked all the models but no one was working.       <description>&lt;HTML&gt;&lt;HEAD&gt;&lt;/HEAD&gt;&lt;BODY&gt;&lt;P&gt;Hi,&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Wether you leave IOS as is(.bin) or you can decompress with winrar but you must give it the extension .image and rename it with the name of the original .bin file.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;That's why your router won't start as he finds no valid IOS.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Regards.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Alain.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;/BODY&gt;&lt;/HTML&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;HTML&gt;&lt;HEAD&gt;&lt;/HEAD&gt;&lt;BODY&gt;&lt;P&gt;The only difference is that the .image file is already uncompressed so you gain time when loading IOS in ram.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;On windows 7 you must start dynamips as administrator did you do it?&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;For the .net file just do a search for this file because I don't know where it resides.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Regards.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Alain.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;/BODY&gt;&lt;/HTML&gt;</description>
