topic Local Spark database could not be initialized (while logging in) in Webex Administration

Hello everyone,

I could not log in to the Webex app anymore. After entering the password I got the message, that the local Spark database could not be initialized and Webex closes.

This problem occurs only with a domain user, even the domain administrator. With a local Windows user, everything is working fine.

The question is, what happens there and is there a group policy preventing Webex to run properly?

Thank you

Fixed it.

Looks like its a problem with the Domain Controller connection. After adding the registry key, login was successful on every user.

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/troubleshoot/windows-server/identity/dpapi-masterkey-backup-failures

We started seeing this behavior after a February WIN10 update. Not only did it break Webex but also Outlook 2013 in cached mode and MSRA remote assistance. Our fix was to apply the ProtectionPolicy key, Install Outlook and Login to Webex, them change the key back to 0 hopefully to prevent the "loss of data" warning for roaming users.
