Duo RDP for Windows PCs with Qualcomm/Snapdragon processors

We've procured a laptop to test these new processors for compatibility with our stack of MSP tools. Almost all software works great through their compatibility tools, except for Duo. Looking at the logs, it appears that it does a hard check for processor type and does not attempt an install beyond that.

Any plans for expanding support for these devices? If battery life claims are to be believed, these may become very popular soon. Right now my MSP cannot recommend them until supported by Duo or another 2FA provider.

Same issue here. I have windows copilot+ device that is also ARM64 and this is a show stopper for us deploying the device.

We are trying to replace Board iPads with Surface tablets, partially to enable Duo, but these have the ARM processors.

Hi there! I can help answer this question. Yes, there are plans to have Duo WinLogon / RDP support ARM (Snapdragon) machines. In terms of timing for support, right now we are looking at the first half Cisco '25 fiscal year (which starts in August) as a landing spot for this capability. Any changes to timing will also be communicated, as this is an ongoing project. As we get closer to a 'Generally Available' date, Cisco / Duo comms will start spreading the good news. I have the same issue - we cannot deploy these devices until Cisco Duo is supported. I know your last update was about three and a half weeks ago but can you give any further update as we are keen to move forward with the Copilot+ PCs.

We are having this issue, too. We purchased a Surface Pro 11, and the only app that hasn't worked so far is Duo. Not having Duo support is a show-stopper unless we switch to another authentication app.

I just set up a Surface Laptop and a Surface Pro, both with the Snapdragon processors, and like you all, learned that Duo won't work on them. I shouldn't be, but I'm surprised that Cisco isn't out ahead of this with a major player like Microsoft rolling out these devices. I'm trying to escalate through my Cisco reps. Like Josh said above, this is a show-stopper. We'll need to sit on these machines until Duo works on them, or we'll have to return them.

So still a year away. We can't wait that long and have started evaluating alternatives. We too are surprised that this isn't ready yet. It isn't like there hasn't been plenty of notice that this will be a mainstream requirement. All our other software, either runs as native ARM software or under emulation.

Jason, Cisco's fiscal year 2025 began on August 1, 2024. If they’re on track, I’d expect progress soon. It would be great to get an update from Kevin to confirm where things stand.

@Kevin Hankins an update on this would be awesome. The owners of my company are chomping at the bit to get some Copilot Surface devices rolled out and DUIO compatibility is the only thing holding us back. Pretty soon we are going to be at a point of looking for another security vendor in order to move forward with deployment. With an update on the situation we can probably hold them back on this another couple of months.

Does anyone happen to have updates on Duo's support for Qualcomm/Snapdragon Windows PC's? I haven't seen any updates from Cisco since @Kevin Hankins posted last July that the target for release was the first half of Cisco's '25 fiscal year.

I asked my rep last week. He said that support for the Snapdragon chips is going into a preview (beta?) by the end of this month. Previously, he had said that it is expected to go into general release sometime in Q2. I've had 3 new Surfaces sitting on the shelf collecting dust since December. 😞

This would be extremely helpful to get a release on this. We have several Dell XPSs with Snapdragons collecting dust in storage since July 2024 we can't deploy without 2FA.

I'm happy to share that the Duo for Windows Logon public preview for ARM64 has dropped.

Duo Authentication for Windows Logon ARM64 Public Preview 4.3.17 release notes

Please note that this ARM release doesn't have any of the features or changes that were first available in the 4.3.16 preview release, and therefore none of the changes in current 5.x releases (which GA's and iterated on the 4.3.16 preview features). It's basically 4.3.1 with ARM64 support added.
