Are Virtual Backgrounds possible in Webex Browser?

Hi All,

I've been unable to find a definitive answer to this query from one of our internal customers, though my testing thus far suggests the answer is "No".

Could someone please advise whether it is possible to use virtual backgrounds or blur, when joining a Webex meeting from the browser? (we cannot use the desktop application in our Windows environment). If it is possible, what OS or browser is required to do so?

Virtual backgrounds aren't supported on the Meetings web app or on Linux.

This feature, often called "Virtual Backgrounds," allows you to customize your video conference experience and maintain privacy by hiding your physical surroundings.

To use virtual backgrounds in Webex Browser, you can follow these steps:

Start or join a Webex meeting using your browser.
Once you are in the meeting, locate the toolbar at the bottom of the screen and click on the "More options" button (represented by three dots).
From the menu that appears, select "Virtual Background."
You will be presented with a list of available virtual backgrounds or the option to upload your own image or video. Here, you can click on "Add Image" or "Add Video" and choose a suitable background file from your device. For example, you can add an image called "convertzen_background.jpg" from your computer or "convertzen_background.mp4" for a video.

In addition to @Roray Stewart‘s response, you’re welcome to submit or upvote an existing enhancement request. Be sure to explain, to the extent appropriate, why you can’t use the Webex executable or VDI plugin; that will undoubtedly be the first rebuttal.
