Sorry, should've mentioned the beep happens no matter what device is connected. The beep happens on the speakers as well.

Hi!

So I attached a couple of pictures below, of my settings. Nothing has changed on my end in terms of settings and out of nowhere, when I get incoming calls on webex (desktop), instead of getting the "Sunrise" ringtone, I get a short beep through my headphones. I want to specify that the beep is through the headphones because in the settings, I've set the ringtone to come out of my speakers (when I click test, the sound is "Sunrise" and it does come out of the speakers).

Can anyone advise?

What headphone make/model are you using? And if USB, does a generic analog 3.5mm also play a beep? If not, it's likely a headset behavior, not Webex app. Several of the major headset OEMs supply plug-ins that Cisco packages with Jabber/Webex App so the headset understands what is happening. This is especially useful with DECT wireless headsets (connected via USB) since it allows the headset to go into standby when there isn't a call and conserve battery power.

Webex has worked with this headset for 2.5 years, it's only recent this has started happening. It also started happening to one of my colleagues that's using a completely different headset. I can take a short video and post it here if it helps. I don't know what's the issue and that's why I'm here, but I can tell you for sure it's not hardware. I'm thought it could be some feature that possibly got deactivate or maybe someone has played with the ques, so now I'm getting a beeping instead of the ringtone because it detects my line as busy... maybe?

A call waiting-style beep would be a plausible guess if it were affecting all audio outputs equally vs. only the headset. When you receive a call, you hear the normal sunrise ringtone through your speakers while the headset is beeping, correct? If yes, my recommendation remains testing with a generic analog headset (not Bluetooth or USB) to validate that it's truly the app doing it.

I am also having this issue. It's been occurring for the past several months, and appears to only be occur when calls are being forwarded. Direct calls do not have this issue. Please let me know if there's any update to this.

I am an IT analyst and my client's WebEx ringtone will work on headset, but not with built-in computer speakers. Just 2 beeps. Updated/rolled back Realtek Audio Drivers, even completely re-imaged computer and the issue remains. When testing ringtone it will ring through built-in speakers, just not on incoming calls. Disabled headset, still just 2 beeps on built-in system speakers. Set ringtone settings to "All Devices", "Follow system Settings", set to specific to built-in speakers, no difference. Same Audio settings as in my WebEx client, which has no issues and will ring to all devices, or the specific ones when set. WebEx version 45.5.0.32411.

That’s odd, especially if your settings haven’t changed. It sounds like Webex might be defaulting to a different audio output for incoming calls than what’s set in your preferences. Try restarting Webex and checking your OS-level sound settings to make sure it’s not overriding app-specific outputs. Also, some users have fixed this by toggling the ringtone output to a different device, saving, then switching it back to speakers. Might be worth a shot.
