Hi Mrudula,
First of all, I'm not exactly sure when you say Public Rooms. Do you mean the Rooms which are not locked already or, the rooms where there is no Moderator?
If yes, then it doesn't matter if the rooms are Locked or not, or, even if the rooms have any moderator or not!
What is required is, you've to be the Active part of that Room (or, say - space) and if that's true - then you can list out those rooms using this API.
Those rooms will not be listed out using the above API endpoint where you're not part of, even if you've Full Admin or, Compliance Officer (CO) access of your Org.

However, if you're the CO or, even Full Admin of your Org and you're trying to fetch the details of a specific room using its roomId from this API, that's doable though. For that, as I mentioned, you should have the roomId available with you and you might not be an Active part of the room as well, still the details will be shown.
Please let us know for any further assistance by replying on this thread.

Kind regards,
Sandip

Public Rooms are rooms discoverable by anyone in the org. These are often announcement spaces. in traditional spaces you typically need to be invited to ( Teams spaces are different ). Public rooms/spaces you can discover and join on your own. The API support for it is almost done.
