These builds may well have certain properties, such as security hardening, specific versions of dependencies, user accounts, authentication mechanisms and so on. It is very likely that a given application from a partner will have been tested and certified as a whole with a specific Linux build.</P><P></P><P>All of which may mean that the partner cannot deploy their application in another version of Linux without, at least, considerable work to recreate the build and configuration to match their existing Linux.
