I can not see anywhere in any of the Codec EQ guides where it says you can connect a camera to the USB port. You may be confusing it with the option of using the USB-C to connect to an external device (such as a laptop or PC) to use the EQ as the Camera/Microphone/Speakers for a soft client running on such a device.

No, the cameras are designed to be connected to the HDMI ports of the codec for video (in addition to their Ethernet connectivity for control). Connecting to the USB-C port will not work.

What is your use case? Why would you need to do this?

I have connected the codec EQ with an HDMI switcher ( in and out) in addition I am using 3 cameras , quad and two PTZ , therefore there is no sufficient HDMI ports for my cameras

in the codec eq installation guide it is said that we can connect camera to the USB port

The Cisco room kit EQ can support connecting up to three cameras since there are three HDMI input ports, so in your case you can coneect the quad camera and two PTZ camera, but using USB-C port is applicable only if you will use USB-Passthrough feature, for example if you want to join facetime meeting from your MAC pro or third party meeting like Zoom or Teams from your laptop just connect your laptop using USB-C cable to the codec and utilize the room kit EQ cameras and audio capabilities during the call.
https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/collateral/collaboration-endpoints/spark-room-kit-series/room-kit-eq-ds.html

I think the confussion comes from the Cisco EQ port diagram in the installation guide, which shows USBC port with the symbol of camera and a PC, which would seem like a camera can be connected in that port.

If that's not the case, why the diagram shows the camera symbol?

We are also evaluating if we can use USB cameras with the Cisco EQ. In the Cisco Room Kit EQ sales information, I can read this information regarding Camera Configuration:

"Comes with the Quad Camera. Option for Cisco PTZ camera bundles and connectivity with external cameras over IP, HDMI or USB."

Can I really use a USB camera with a Cisco EQ? If not, why there are 4 USB-A ports available in the device?
