topic Cisco Jabber - API's or suggestions for client side tools. in Collaboration Applications

Hello everyone, I hope this is the right forum. My current company uses Jabber clients as a means of communication. I am not on the IT staff, so I do not have access to the backend systems; however I am hoping it is still possible to accomplish what I am trying to do.

Is it possible to plug in to the client side somehow to create a tool/addon to read and parse incoming messages. For example, I would like to create a chat bot or help desk. So when a user messages me with "!help xyz" I can parse that and return some pre-written message.

I am savvy with coding but have never done any interaction with Jabber before. Do you know how I might go about starting something like this? Is there an API for Jabber or maybe some suggestions for workarounds?

Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks!

A customer (that uses Cisco

A customer (that uses Cisco Jabber for internal communication) is currently asking if it's possible to have a chatbot (as a contact). Conversation logic is not a problem for me, I'd like to know whether its possible to create a bot and add custom logic.

Is this possible ?

Thanks.
