We are now using Jabber Version 12.7.0.38632 Build 288632 and this version is doing a behavior that is quite annoying to many of us. If you have a number of chats open in the conversation windows, the newest message will move that person (or group) to the top of the list. When it's not busy, not biggie. When there is a lot going on, things keep moving around - we as humans "know" where that chat was and we are looking for it, and when it moves some place else, it makes it harder on us.

Example, I am chatting with someone (top of the list) and another person (2nd' in the list) while a group chat is going on (3rd in the list). When I click to go to the group chat, and chat there....then the 2nd person sends me a message - I expect to go to the 2nd chat listed, but that they got moved to the 1st spot, which moves others down.

This constant changing order is bad - while it may sound helpful always put the most recent at the top, chats are fluid and engaging, and moving things around in real-time within real-time communications is bad customer experience.

Where can I "check a box" to keep them still where I want them?

This is made worse by Jabber's ability to drag names to reorder them - You can customize the order of the active chat list but then as soon as someone responds that custom order is overridden to move the response to the top.

I agree. I thought moving people or spaces to Favorites would help me keep things in order, but it didn't. It's almost impossible to very quickly find the chat I need because it's in order of last post and there is no way to sort by name of space or person (especially, if I can't remember the exact name of the person or space off the top of my head).

Yes, this is massive. Working in an active environment you can't have the windows constantly changing position, it's an organizational nightmare.

Are you seriously saying "well, the worst chat program on the planet does the same thing?" That is not the standard by which you want to be measured. How about "re-order rooms and they stay where you left them?" How about "Right click -> Sort alphabetically?" Either would be better than the current behavior.

Well, Skype did until Microsoft deprecated it. I don't see how this comparison is relevant, however, unless you're suggesting that the apparent lack of competition on this front means no effort ought to be put forth to improve the Cisco product.

I agree entirely that some people are satisfied with Jabber as it currently stands. I don't think anyone is suggesting Cisco do away with "recent activity at top," only that users also be given the option to order rooms as they see fit.
