In times like these (home-office caused by corona) everybody needs "smart connection."
It is not acceptable that CISCO does not have a Jabber client for Linux.
I worked as a programmer several years for Windows
apps and when the demand for Apple apps also increased
I just compiled Apple programs from the Windows source with a cross compiler.
This was much more difficult than today, because the hardware base
at that time were different: Windows with Intel CPU s and Apple was using
Motorola 68xxx - nowadays both have the Intel i5, i7 series in use.
A Android and a Mac version (BSD clone) is available - there is no reason
not to compile it for Linux - I think CISCO has one or two programmer 😉
to make this possible. A Jabber version for "Red Hat Enterprise Linux"
without any support would be a perfect step.

thanks

guenter

Hello, there is actually a Web-based client working great under Linux as well. It is a Cisco certified solution called Fimbur by a Cisco Solution Partner and listed on the Solutions Exchange here: https://developer.cisco.com/ecosystem/spp/solutions/182165/

Hope that helps!

Jabber will work in a Windows VM

There's no Linux version of the software , sorry

You can connect to the IM and Presence server if your org is using this, using pidgin or some other XMPP/BOSH client .

As far as phone goes a 3rd party client works but there is additional overhead in setting this up on the UCM .

Thanks for tip, but you have MacOS versions and for a "real" 😉
programmer it's not so hard to compile it for linux
