I'm in the process of adding a New CUCM subscriber in a cluster wherein around 3000 IP phones would be getting registered in the same. There are already 2 dedicated TFTP subscriber nodes installed in the cluster catering more than 10000 IP Phones and I will be adding one more dedicated TFTP subscriber in the cluster for this deployment. How many max dedicated TFTP subscriber can be added in a cluster?

The cluster, inclusive of the publisher, TFTP, and media servers, cannot have more than 21 server nodes, which is the maximum limit. However, there isn't a specific rule that dictates the maximum number of dedicated TFTP nodes allowed in a cluster, or that there should be eight for call processing, and the rest for services, provided the total doesn't exceed 21. Please note, the guidelines are different for mega clusters.">

When the number of endpoints in a cluster exceeds 1,250, it requires two TFTP server nodes. The cluster, which includes the publisher, TFTP, and media servers, cannot contain more than 21 server nodes, as this is the maximum limit. In a standard cluster, eight are typically allocated for call processing, with the remainder for services, as long as the total count does not surpass 21.

There is not a technical limit on how many servers in a cluster can have the Cisco Tftp service activated, whether they are dedicated TFTP servers or not. However, note that the Option 150 DHCP parameter allows only two TFTP servers to be listed. You will need to determine which devices will use which TFTP servers and "manually" load-balance via DHCP pools.

Hi,

Thanks everyone for all the information. Im gonna go ahead to add a third dedicated TFTP node as its pretty clear that there is no specific limitation wrt dedicated TFTP nodes in a cluster.

Regards
