The client has a base of contacts in a SQL Server. They would like to show this list of contacts on Jabber.

OK, your options would be to import those contacts into your contact source (LDAP/UDS) so they can be searched, or to create a custom tab where you can show the info, but they would not be contacts, you'd just show them in a webpage and then each user would need to add whoever they need as a custom contact.
