topic Sup2T: CEF adjacency watermarks in Data Center Switches

Hi all,

I am wondering about CEF adjacency watermarks on Catalyst / Sup2T platforms / MPLS environment.
Consider the following output:
Switch#sh platform hardware cef adjacencies resource-level
Watermarks apply to regions available for allocation and not pre-reserved
Stats region size for alloc: 182016
Non-stats region size for alloc: 638976
Adjacency Mgr watermarks:
Type Red_WM(%) Green_WM(%) Current usage(%)
---- --------- ---------- ----------------
Stats_WM 95% 80% 98%
Non-Stats_WM 95% 80% 3 %

So we consumed the memory for the Stats region by 98% and after passing the green and red watermarks thresholds the switch produces corresponding log entries (notice).

I understood that this event is not critical since, if the stats region memory is fully allocated, also the non-stats region memory will be used automatically and here we still have a lot of free memory (3% usage).

However, I don´t like those messages, and even if this is not critical, wouldn´t it be good to adjust the memory region sizes per configuration that way that the thresolds are not reached ? Is this possible at all ?

Any comment or advise is highly appreciated.
Thanks,
Alfred
