Just a quick one, I see the docs for 3.1.3 are now out in the public. One thing that surprised me early on is that it's stated that there is no upgrade path from 2.3.7.x

In subsequent 3.x releases will there be or at least a path to migrate the data?

You are correct.

For Catalyst Center Release 3.1.3, there is no migration, no backup & restore, and no upgrades.

This is a "New" Install for Greenfield environments only. Lab deployments for POC are preferred for this specific Release. If you needs an exception and wants to test a new feature (which is NOT supported in 3.1.3) and migrate a "Lab" (not production) to 3.1.3 from 2.3.7.9, reach out to your account team and the can start the discussion with the Catalyst Center Product Management Team.

Migrating from Catalyst Center 2.3.7.x to a 3.x.y Release will become possible with a new "Platform Refresh" feature in 3.1.5 or later.

My interpretation of "new platform refresh" is new hardware replacement.

Is DNAC version 3.1.5 only supported exclusively with "new platform refresh", i. e. If clients do not upgrade to the new hardware, existing hardware will not be able to upgrade to 3.1.5?

Platform Refresh is the workflow mechanism that you can "migrate" your existing DN2 or DN3 hardware from Cisco Catalyst Center Release 2.3.7.x to Release 3.1.x.

As you are aware, Software support for DN1 ends with 2.3.7.9. So DN1 appliances will not be able to migrate to 3.1.x.
Release 3.1.3 is FCS phased rollout and has limited availability for Cisco Customers. Approval is needed. Platform Refresh is EFT for this Release and is only approved for limited customers and lab environments for testing and feedback
Release 3.1.5 will be released as FCS Phase Rollout initially. This is part of our normal Release Cycle. But after certain KPIs are met, then it can transition to General Availability (GA) for everyone. Platform Refresh feature is to be GA in 3.1.5.

As noted in the Upgrade guide, there is no "Upgrade" workflow from 2.3.7.x to 3.1.x. This is a migration or new install.
