Hello all, I am trying to automate our own Compliance checks with Ansible using Cisco API.

Is there any way to search for devices which are not assigned to a Site? The "Site" Param is not visible in SDK Method "devices.Devices.get_device_by_id, devices.Devices.get_device_list".

Thanks for any help 🙂

KR Louis

To use that Module I need to provide Device ID / IP Addr from the Device I want to unassign from the given Site ID. Doesnt help me as I dont have both, but appreciate the thought 🙂

Hi @twmjr, as far as I can remember we used a workaround getting all devices with "/dna/intent/api/v1/network-device" then getting all Sites and double-checking / crossing the two lists to get the unassigned Devices.

Sadly not in that department anymore, so I cant provide you with Code / more Information. Hope that helped though 🙂

Hi!
When you create a site, regardless if its a "building" or "area", it will always hierarchy wise be placed under the "Global" site.
That means, any unassigned devices will be a member of the "Global" site until assigned to a site.

Get the Site Id for the "Global" site, then use the "site-member" API
to list all devices there. This is the list of unassigned devices.

Code below is an example, dont use the insecure "verify=False" call in a production environment.

---------------------------------------

import json, requests

url1 = "/dna/intent/api/v2/site?groupNameHierarchy=Global"
url2a = "/dna/intent/api/v1/site-member/"
url2b = "/member?memberType=networkdevice&level=0"

payload = None
headers = { "Accept": "application/json" }

# Get Site Id for "Global"
res = requests.request("GET", url1, headers=headers, data=payload, verify=False)
globals_siteid = res.json()["response"][0]["id"]

# Get 500 first devices in the "Global" area. "level=0" in url2b mean list top level only
url2 = url2a + globals_siteid + url2b

res = requests.request("GET", url2, headers=headers, data=payload, verify=False)
for dev in res.json()["response"]:
    print(dev["hostname"])

---------------------------------------
Hope this helps - please rate if it does!
