Enrolling Android Devices - Install SSL Certificate

Hi,

I have an issue while enrolling Android 6 devices in Meraki Systems Manager. I put the afw#meraki info into username when prompted for a Google google account, but it cant contact accounts.google.com. I think this is due to our proxy needing an SSL certificate installed on the device before it can access https sites. Is there a way for me to install this cert manually during the initial setup?

I don't know.

I suspect you are going to need to setup a provisioning environment where the phones can talk directly to the Internet.

If you install an SSL certificate on Android devices then you need to go through the following steps. Please note that these steps may vary slightly depending on the Android version and device model.

1) Obtain the SSL Certificate
2) Transfer the Certificate to the Android Device
3) Open Settings on the Android Device
4) Find the Security or Certificates Section
5) Install the Certificate
6) Locate and Select the Certificate File
7) Configure Certificate Settings
😎 Set up Credential Storage Password
9) Complete the Installation
10) Verify Certificate Installation

Note:- If you are deal with SSL Certificate for a specific application then those time applications may have their own certification installation procedure.

Firstly, in answer to your question: No: If you want to enroll the devices in Device Owner Mode AND install the SSL cert to help with your proxy, then this is NOT possible. I would suggest that you have a provisioning network just for enrolling devices, using SM to then install both the WiFi, Proxy and cert(s) upon enrollment

Secondly, anything prior to Android 10 is deprecated, as per: https://documentation.meraki.com/SM/Other_Topics/Supported_Operating_Systems_with_Meraki_SM#Android

This means that any Android OS version prior to Android 10 is best effort.
