topic Hi, in Network Access Control

Hi,

I need to restore the full backup. If this is only the ACS application that crashes, then just restore the application backup. Restoring full backup needs to be done in case you're modifying ADE-OS configuration (like IP, dns, ...) without going to ACS web page.

However, if you must absolutely keep logs, you also need to backup logs and restore it.

Thanks

PS: Please don't forget to rate and mark as correct answer if this answered your question

ACS backups

I have some doubts between the full backup and the application backup only.

What is the difference of each one?

What backup it is recommended to restore if I the ACS fails?

And If I need to migrate the ACS 5.3 (appliance) to a virtual machine, how can restore the configurations from ACS 5.3 to ACS 5.8?

Hi

Hi

Full backup means ACS configuration + ADE-OS.

Application backup means only ACS configuration.

To migrate from 5.3 to 5.8 you'll need to migrate before to 5.5 and then to 5.8.

Here Cisco documentations:

- migration from 5.3 to 5.5

http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/net_mgmt/cisco_secure_access_control_system/5-5/installation/guide/csacs_book/csacs_upg.html#25877

- migration from 5.5 to 5.8

http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/net_mgmt/cisco_secure_access_control_system/5-8/installation/guide/csacs_book/csacs_upg.html#13063

As I've done it several times, usually it's quite straight forward.

My only recommendation is to take full backup at each version to not start from scratch.

A backup in version 5.3, 1 in 5.5 and last one in 5.8

Thanks

Hi Francesco,

The information that you provided me was very usefull, I only have one question more.

If the ACS fails, what is the backup that I should restore?
