Replace ASA primary unit

The ASA 5540 primary unit is totally dead. Now the seconday is active now. While waiting for the RMA from Cisco. It is my first time to replace the ASA. I have the following questions:

1. should the version of replacement ASA be the same as the current one? The current one is running 7.2.3

2. I can't find any doc. from Cisco. What will be the steps for replacement?

3. Will it affect if I replace during the production time?
