local database authentication scalability

I would like to know on 3745 and 2811 what is the maximum size or number of users/line for local database authentication

e.g

user1 password 0 temp1

user2 password 0 temp2

how many users I can put in?

Is there a maximum number of lines limit in IOS configuration file.

I don't think there is a limit set in IOS config file.

I agree that the IOS does not place a specific limit on the number of users that can be configured. The limit that you would run into is the size of the config file and the amount of NVRAM on the router. At some point as you add more users you would get to a point where the config would no longer fit into NVRAM.

I believe that there is also a practical limit of reasonableness. How many individual userIDs and passwords does it make sense to maintain on each router/switch?
