Hi,

I have a router configured with TACACS+ and SSH. I'm SSH from a workstation to the router. The router will authenticate with the TACACS server which located across a WAN. Will the traffic between the router to the server encrypted as well?

Yes it will.

You needs to specify an encryption key that's the same on both your router and your TACACS server.

The command on the router is "tacacs-server key your_key"

Rgds

Paddy

The SSH traffic between your workstation and the router is encrypted. The traffic between the router and the TACACS server is not encrypted in its entiertity but the sensitive information like passwords is encrypted.

HTH

Rick
