topic Upgrade to ACS 5.8 and moving to VM platform in Network Access Control

Hi team,

Our customer is migrating their ACS to VM platform, due to upcoming EoL of the 1121 appliance, and moving to 5.8 version from current 5.5. The customer is inquiring about how the license and the support coverage will continue with this new platform. As the customer is also undergoing Smartnet renewal discussions, we wanted to ensure the right SKUs are ordered for them to continue receiving support.

Based on documentation we could find, when performing a minor upgrade, no new licenses are required and customer can continue using the existing licenses. Please confirm if customer can continue using the base license they have which is valid until 2020.

As for support, we read in a different post that ACS can be migrated free of charge from an appliance into VM, however, purchasing a service/ support contract for the VM is required. Please confirm what exact kind of support contract for VM is required. Is a renewal of current SAS contract enough or do they need to purchase a different SW contract for VM?

Hi Cyril,

As for coverege, just want to let you know that ACS product is alredy EOL'ed. ACS 5.8 was the last version of the software.

That said, End of Sale was Aug 2017 and End of Maintenance will be Aug 2018.

At this point, I would suggest moving to ISE directly from ACS 5.5. You can migrate ACS to ISE from ACS 5.5+.

Please check out http://cs.co/acstoise for more details and for EOL.

Thanks

Krishnan
