topic Which nodes send the emails? in Network Access Control

Greetings,

I am implementing a combination self-registered and sponsor portal for guest access. Reading the Configuring Guest Access Chapter of the Cisco Identity Services Engine Administrator Guide, Release 2.4, I don't see any indication of which servers will be sending the email. I'm having trouble finding this information anywhere else, so I'm hoping the community can help.

As I have a number of geographically distributed PSNs, it would be useful to know if they will need access to send email to external addresses or if only, say, the admin nodes handle that. This would be a great piece of information to include in the Configuring Guest Access chapter.

Thanks!

And then I remembered this diagram. It's pretty clear that it is the PSNs that handle the mail.

Still would like to see this stated in the chapter that people read when they implement these portals.

Depending on your use cases (guest notifications, alarms, etc) the PAN, MnT, or PSN can send emails via SMTP.

See the ISE Ports Reference in the Installation Guides for more information.

Cheers,

You may have missed it, but I found the diagram. The context, as I mentioned is Guest/Sponsor portals. Thanks, though.

Any word on possibly adding this information to the appropriate section of the documentation?
