i want to setup 802.1x authentication with EAP-MD5 on certain cisco phones. the EAP-MD5 password is configured on the phones.

where do i enter the EAP-MD5 password in ISE so the values can be compared ?

or is my understanding of EAP-MD5 incorrect ?

You could create the user anywhere, AD or ISE Local User Identity Store etc.

Wherever you create the user, in the Policy you would create an authentication rule to match EAP-MD5 protocol and to reference the ID store the account exists in.
