Hi,

We just purchased two ISE 3595 and we want to delpoy them in Prod. These devices come with many Network Interfaces :

4 x mLOM

2 x PCIe

1 x Management port

2 x LAN ports

What these ports are used for ? Only undestand is the mgmt port ?

Is there any design how to deploy these.

Thanks

Tayeb

Hi there,

You probably only need 1 interface as a minimum (eth0 from memory) for management. There is an interfaces for CIMC access (lights out management). The other interfaces can be used (if required) for dedicated web portals (Guest, CWA etc).

This doc is useful in identifying the interfaces on the hardware.

HTH

The mgmt. port is actually the one for the CIMC management. This CIMC allows you to access the CLI when regular SSH does not work or the appliance is stuck on INITIALIZING Mode (I have seen that because I have those 3595). CIMC is also an alternative if you want to reimage the box or upgrade it using external drives.

I am using the LAN ports for data. Mgmt is just for CIMC and device admin and it requires a different subnet.
