Desktop and mobile operating systems are continually increasing their security and added manual checks in the GUI to verify application trust (you downloaded an app from the Internet - do you want to open it?) and trust (do you want to allow XXX to do YYY?).

We cannot control Apple's software installation process and increasing security requirements.

If the installation of profiles is a problem for end users, considering using a mobile device management (MDM) platform that will manage and automatically install SSID profiles, certificate profiles, and other security settings for you.

If you are using Apple macOS 11, you might see a prompt to install the profiles manually when you are installing the Cisco Network Setup Assistant. In this case, you must do the following:

1. Navigate to the Downloads folder.

2. Double-click the cisco802dot1xconfiguration.mobileconfig file.

3. Choose System > Preferences.

4. Click Profiles.

5. Install the profiles.

6. Click OK in the prompt that is displayed in the Cisco Network Setup Assistant to proceed with installation.

This is a new behavior and it is a problem for end users, its not the same as with the old SPW. I would like to know if this behavior will be permanent or if Cisco have any plans to go back to the old function when SPW configured everything for you.

Regards

Roger Hill
