I am very new to the security,

my question is , does cisco ACS devices run TACACS+ ?

or TACACS+ has to be installed in windows/linux ?

All versions of ACS ( ACS 4.x and ACS 5.x) supports tacacs+.

TACACS is support on all version on ACS .It is further to mention TACACS is cisco propitiatory so it runs only on cisco supported devices.

That is absolutely not true. Other non-cisco devices such as checkpoint products and Juniper also work well with TACACS without any issues.

Hi Jatin,

Do we need any VSA for TACACS+ in order to support non cisco products..? For example I could see RADIUS(Nortel) but for TACACS+(Cisco IOS). how incase if i want nortel switch to get aaa functionality using TACACS+..?
