I've been looking for solid guide on Cisco's website that highlights the primary tasks for deploying any IDS or IPS appliance into a production network and maintaining after deployment. Does anyone have any links?

Hello Owray,

You can look at the product documentation of IDS to get this info. There are abundant materials available on CCO for deploying/maintaining IDS.

Deploying/initial config of IDS:

Managing the IDS using IDM:

Let's be real -- there is nothing solid on how to implement and manage the IDS on CCO. The IDS is a major PoS. Raj -- you look through the links you posted and tell me you don't see incomplete screen captures and endless documentation that never comes to point.

Does anyone have any real information or guides on how to configure that hunk of crap? Ideally there should be field notices describing how to achieve particular objectives!!
