Adding to what Philip said, the best approach as of now would be to build the new server using the 6.1.0 image. Then update to 6.1.0.1 patch release.

You should be able to download and configure it now wile you wait for your licence.

Thanks for the response.

Will it be advisable to use the 5.3.1 version instead of 6 . What are the
major differences in these two versions?

regards

Thanks Marvin,

I have the another query with Sfr module. I wanted to check whether i can enable sfr in asa 5508-x because the config doc is cisco says it has to be 5512-x

http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/security/asa-firepower-services/118644-configure-firepower-00.html

Please suggest

Regards

Yes you can.

Yes you can.

All 5506, 5508 and 5516 models with ASA image already have sfr module preinstalled at the factory. Only if you ordered a new one and specified the new FTD image type would that not be the case. (Or you could uninstall the previsouly installed sfr module.)

The document refers to adding an sfr module to ASA models that do not have sfr module by default - 5512, 5515, 5525, 5545 and 5555-X. Those models could potentially have the older ips or cxsc module types.

go to v 6.1 and the upgraded to 6.1.0.1

if you go to 6.0.0.1-26, its very hard to migrate passed that version
