Actually there's a set of Sourcefire forums in the Security Community. The FireSIGHT System / 3D System forum would be best.

For the original question - please see the product support page for the 8250 appliance. Specifically, the Installation Guide has a lot of details on the steps you take.

The 8250 appliance itself is pretty straightforward. Most of the work is on the FireSIGHT Management Center / Defense Center that you use to manage it.
