I'm just trying to upgrade our sensor to 5.3.0 but i've encountered the error "Update Installation Failed : [15%] Fatal error: Error running script 200_pre/006_check_snort.sh"

Hi,

Yes in such cases you need to reapply the access control policy so that snort can check for the latest version. If your upgrade displays the exact same message then yes that will help.
