Factory Reset retains password

Hello,

I have an ASA 5505 running 8.x Whenver I issue a "configure factory-default" command it works but it retains the enable password. Should it not blow that away as well?

Issue a

write erase

Then

configure factory-default

This is normal behaviour 🙂

so the Write-erase beforehand will keep the password from being retained?

hi,
this is normal behavior. the show run on ASA will still display an enable password string even though you've factory reset the appliance. it's still considered a 'blank' enable password wherein you just hit 'enter' to go the privilege mode.
