Hello,

I have 5525-X ASA without any service module, and as I understand, memory and cpu are statically allocated to both firewall and firepower/ips module.

Since there is no module in my firewall, can't I redistribute or relocate the entire memory and cpu to only firewall process?

If not, how can one upgrade the memory on this firewall?

Please advise.

memory allocation and CPU can not be redistribute in 55XX-Series. even if you not using the sfr module still you are limited to allocated resources when the box/unit powers on.

unless otherwise if you using FTD 9300/4100 where you can allocate the resources (if using multi-instance).

Thanq Sheraz.
Is it possible to replace the existing 8 gb memory with a 16 gb or more? I mean, replacing the memory hardware.
Sorry, I am new to firewalls so do not have much knowledge.

The 5500-X series hardware appliances' memory is fixed per model and cannot be changed, reallocated or upgraded. It doesn't matter which, if any, service module is installed or active alongside the ASA image.
