topic ASA 5506-X generate license from PAK with a serial number mismatch in Network Security

Hi guys,

I have an ASA 5506-X and I need to generate a VPN license for it (AnyConnect Plus Term License).

From "show version" I see a serial number starts with "JAD...", however, from "show inventory" I see a different serial number, that starts with "JMX..." and the same "JMX..." is written on the device. So I have serial number mismatch.

For "JMX..." serial number I have an active Smartnet. Now I need to generate/get a VPN license from "selected PAK" which I have on the Cisco portal (it asks for a serial number during step 2 "Assign to the device"). Which serial number should I use during the generating process?

Thank you

Regards,

Max

According to Cisco support, this license needs to be on the motherboard, therefore "JAD..." serial number will be used for license fulfillment. The serial "JMX..." is for the chassis.
