Hello,

I have a problem with the Cisco ASA 5506-X. I cannot connect to the device via the mini USB cable. When PuTTy starts, the console shows a blank black screen. It does not respond to any commands.

The Power light is green, the status light flashes orange, the active light and the Wifi light are off.

Additional security may have been placed on the router. Does anyone have any idea how I can solve my problem?

Regards

Michael

The ASA 5506-X requires you use either the console port or the mini-USB for console access to an appliance running ASA software.

Note the USB type A is for external storage only.

It automatically installed the drivers on windows 10 and showed they were installed correctly. I'll check with another cable.

What do you mean exactly when you ask what the terminal settings were?

The link you sent shows that the mini usb input serves as a concole port.

I also have a cable from RJ-45 to DB9, but I do not know how to further connect the DB9 terminal to the computer, I think another adapter is needed ...

Sorry, my mistake. I was thinking the USB, not the mini-USB.

If the ASA has been imaged to FTD software the mini-USB may not work.

For your console port cable yes you need a DB-9 to USB adapter/dongle. They can be purchased on amazon.com etc. for <US$10.

Ok, I got the adapter we talked about. Unfortunately, after connecting all the cables, it does not recognize the Cisco device in any way, only this adapter as COM7 (photo 4). Any ideas how to finally get to the Cisco console?

I tried to connect the device again via the mini-USB cable. I was able to download the software from this page: https://software.cisco.com/download/home/282774227/type/282855122/release/3.1

Previously, the site did not allow me to download this software... It changed so much that a new icon appeared in the connected devices: Cisco USB Console, but I also don't know what else I could do with it.
