Community,

We purchased a pair of FPR2K-NM-8X10G for our 2140s and a pair of FPR4K-NM-8X10G for our 4140's respectively. I am reading that these modules are hot swappable but wanted to reach out to see if anyone had any experience installing these in their firepower systems. Are these ok to install while the systems are running? any "gotchas" I need to be aware of?

Also, the Hardware install guide says "Make sure you have the correct firmware package and software version installed to support this network module. See Cisco FXOS Troubleshooting Guide for the Firepower 1000/2100 with Firepower Threat Defense for the procedure to verify your firmware package and software version." However, it does not say what software version you need to have to support it.

Any help is appreciated.

Thank you.

Hot swap is supported since FXOS 2.3.1(56). Generally speaking though a new module installation is not the same as hot swap of an existing module. So I would recommend power off, insert module and then power on.

Any recent (and even not-so-recent) FXOS will support that hardware. 2140 FXOS is embedded in the FTD csp image. 4140 FXOS is upgraded via the chassis manager and it is generally recommended to run one of the most recent versions (currently 2.10 or 2.11 latest patch).
