FMC 7.2 will support managed devices as far back as 6.6 (see the link provided by @Rob Ingram ). So your SFR modules would need to upgrade to at least that version first.

Any ASA (other than 5506-X, 5512-X, 5515-X and 5585-X) with a Firepower service module can run 6.6.x or 7.0.x (nothing beyond 7.0.x for Firepower service modules).

Hello,

I have a Cisco SFR in the form of an FMC running version 6.7.0.3. It is supporting firepowers running version 6.4.0.132. The FMC is just an FMC; it is not an FMCv300. For some reason, I was under the impression version 6.7 was as high a version the FMC can support before having to upgrade to the Cisco NextGen series, so I need to find out if this is true. Recently, we found a bug causing cosmetic LDAP errors and it was recommended we upgrade to version 7.2. Is this possible? If so, can someone forward me the link for the FMC and firepowers software? Also, because our firepowers are running version 6.4.0.132, will version 7.2 support them or do they have to be upgraded to another version as well?

Check the FMC hardware compatibility to determine if your hardware will support 7.2 or whether you need to upgrade the FMC hardware. Refer to table 3 >> https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/security/secure-firewall/compatibility/management-center-compatibility.html
