topic Packet Tracer SSH Source IP in Network Security

Would someone be able to let me know if it's a limitation of Packet Tracer that I can't specify a source address/interface for outgoing SSH connections?

I've setup an access-class on a switch to only allow access from specific addresses but when I attempt to ssh out from my router it comes from the address of the main interface rather than the sub interface that I would like it to come from. In global config mode there's nothing in ip ssh apart from 'authentication-retries', 'time-out', and 'version',.

If someone could confirm or let me know where to confirm just so I'm not looking further that would be appreciated!

Hello @PrimeYeti

In PT, the ability to specify a source address/interface for outgoing SSH connections might be limited due to the simulation environment. Packet Tracer is a network simulation tool provided by Cisco for educational purposes, and it may not fully replicate all features and configurations found in actual Cisco hardware.

Cisco command to achieve this:

ip ssh source-interface interface

Hi There,

I did give 'ip ssh source-interface' a go but it doesn't appear as a valid command so I would assume it's not available in PT. That sucks. Oh well thanks anyway!
